ALL of PUSD board received contributions from school bond contractors. From Union-Tribune, lower right sidebar, 'Public Records': "Research of public records at the county Registrar of Voters shows that all five current Poway Unified School District board members accepted campaign contributions from major recipients of Proposition U bond money."

PUSD can't provide an itemized list of estimated expeditures, they sent me here.  When pressed further, they still haven't called back.  They are asking for a blank check just because they think they can get it, using a few examples to justify a much larger amount.  Not a single hard number for anything - not on any of the restroom renovations "as needed", nor on expected computer prices on thousands of computers, etc.  Don' t they know if renovation is needed or not?  Surely, their estimates must be based on some number, somewhere.

Poway Mayor Cafagna received contributions from school bond contractors. "In 2003, Barnhart and Wilkes were also gifting Poway mayor Mickey Cafagna."

$179M without building a single new school, this doesn't pass the smell test.

Hey, teacher pay of $74 per classroom hour COSTS PUSD $26.75M MORE PER YEAR than $60 per classroom hour would. (2007/8 teacher salaries + share of benefits, p.7) / (1732 teachers x 184 days x 6hrs) = $74.34/class hr.

The PUSD is so top heavy with Superintendents and Assistant Sups, that the organization is in danger of toppling over. The money wasted on their projects is criminal and now they want us to open up and give them millions more that won't be accounted for. To those who agree with this new tax I say shame on you. Everyone complains about the taxes we pay, the price of gas, milk, food, housing, etc. Now is the time you can finally say no and put a stop to this unmitigated spending and waste.

14-18 YEARS of additional $55/100K of assessed value is a HUGE TAX INCREASE over not paying it. For median home value of approximately $500K = $3,800-$4950.

It sure looks like they're double billing! Their technology plan, pg. 67,68 includes listing their Obsolescence Plan for computers TWICE for 2009-2010, and 2010-2011.  They show increasing budgets for software/hardware even as computers and software prices continue to plummet.

THEY NEVER ADMIT THEIR OWN INCOMPETENCE.  $198M Prop U with $100M in matching State funds in 2002 was supposed to cover everything they're asking for now.  They always just come back for more money.

It's not worth $179M + another $300M-500M in interest in order to qualify for $20M of State money.
